Energy Efficiency

NBP Energy Efficiency

Our commitment to energy efficiency and environmental conservation are key factors in our product offering. We work toward this goal by partnering with ENERGY STAR® and offering windows and sliding doors built with the highest energy efficiency and performance in mind. Environmental awareness is at the forefront of our work, from design to the innovative creation of manufacturing practices that are aligned with our core values.

ENERGY STAR® is the trusted and government-endorsed standard for energy efficiency. It is represented by a small symbol, assuring the product meets high energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR® provides straightforward, reliable, and unbiased data essential for consumers and businesses, empowering them to make informed choices.

The National Fenestration Rating Council is a non-profit organization that establishes objective window, door, and skylight energy performance ratings to help you compare products and make informed purchase decisions.

Performance Packages

Our performance packages feature the latest and most innovative energy-efficiency
technologies and respond to the following:

Warm inside air meets a cold window, creating a chilly circulatory flow. Performance Package windows can help reduce convection-related problems.

Air leakage through unsealed gaps can account for up to 10% of a home's energy usage. NBP Performance Package windows offer premium airflow protection.

Clear glass absorbs interior heat and radiates it outdoors. NBP offers Low-E glass coatings, significantly reducing radiant heat loss and saving you money in the winter.

The direct transfer of heat through the window frame (conduction) is a big factor in determining energy efficiency. The premium frames in our Performance Package windows significantly reduce thermal heat loss due to conduction.

In the summer, solar radiation can dramatically increase cooling costs. In addition, the UV rays can fade and damage interior furnishings. Performance Package windows feature a Low-E coating that greatly decreases solar radiation and provides superior UV protection.

Low-E glass coatings allow short-wave visible light to be absorbed through the window. This lowers lighting costs throughout the year and is reradiated as heat in the winter.

Condensation can damage window frames, sills, and interior shades while contributing to mold and indoor humidity. NBP offers warm-edge spacers for superior condensation resistance.

Thermal Transmittance and Resistance (U and R-Values)

Thermal transmittance, also known as U-value, is the heat transfer rate between a window's interior and exterior. The R-value of a window, also known as “thermal resistance,” is simply the reciprocal of the U-value (1/U). So, if a window has a U-Value of 0.20, it will have an R-Value of 5 (1/0.20).

The higher a window's R-value, the greater its insulating properties and, thus, its energy efficiency. Our Performance Package windows feature one of the highest double-glazed R-values in the industry, for the ultimate in energy efficiency and thermal performance.
